IDF POWER WAGON WM300 CARGO TRUCK W/WINCH 1/35

Since the early days of the IDF the WW2 Dodge WC series had been widely used, with surplus trucks obtained from many places to fight in the 1948 and 1956 wars.

In the 1960s these old warriors started to wear out and still more trucks were needed in this class, so the replacement was yet another Dodge product, the Power Wagon.

Some civilian, closed cab Power Wagon WM300 had been in use for a while, mainly captured from Egypt, but the Power Wagon now supplied was the WM300 in soft-top type.

That was a cheap, simple, export type model, similar to the M601 offered to friendly countries under the Military Defense Assistance Program.

Starting in 1966, the trucks arrived in Israel as CKD (Completely Knocked Down) units, to be assembled and completed with Israeli-made parts at the new AIL (Automotive Industries Ltd.) factory in Nazareth.

The very early cargo body followed closely the old WC51 design from WW2, but was quickly replaced with a new Israeli design, far more practical, cheaper and easier to build, also to be used in its succesor, the Nun Nun M325.

The first combat use for the IDF’s new Power Wagon (or Command Car as it was nicknamed) came in the 1967 Six-Day War, but it was the 1973 Yom Kippur War when it became widely seen.

There were also a few foreign users such as Uganda, Kenya and the South Lebanese Army.

These tough and reliable trucks became quite popular among troops for a myriad of uses, even if it was a most spartan and uncomfortable vehicle to ride in.

Desde los primeros días del IDF, la serie Dodge WC de la Segunda Guerra Mundial fue ampliamente utilizada, con camiones provenientes de excedentes obtenidos en diferentes lugares para luchar en las guerras de 1948 y 1956.

En la década de 1960 estos viejos vehículos empezaron a desgastarse y se necesitaban aún más camiones, por lo que el sustituto fue otro producto Dodge, el Power Wagon.

Algunos Power Wagon WM300 civiles con cabina cerrada estuvieron en uso durante algún tiempo, principalmente los capturados a Egipto, pero el Power Wagon que se suministraba ahora era el WM300 en tipo chasis-cuna.

Se trataba de un modelo barato, sencillo y adecuado para exportación, similar al M601 ofrecido a países amigos en el marco del Programa de Ayuda a la Defensa Militar.

A partir de 1966, los camiones llegaron a Israel como unidades CKD (Completely Knocked Down), para ser ensamblados y completados con piezas de fabricación israelí en la nueva fábrica AIL (Automotive Industries Ltd.) de Nazaret.

La primera carrocería de carga seguía de cerca el antiguo diseño WC51 de la Segunda Guerra Mundial, pero fue rápidamente sustituida por un nuevo diseño israelí, mucho más práctico, barato y fácil de construir, que también se utilizaría en su sucesor, el Nun Nun M325.

El primer uso en combate del nuevo Power Wagon del IDF (o Command Car, como fue apodado) se produjo en la Guerra de los Seis Días de 1967, pero fue en la Guerra del Yom Kippur de 1973 cuando su uso se generalizó.

También hubo algunos usuarios extranjeros para el vehículo, como Uganda, Kenia y el Ejército del Sur del Líbano.

Estos camiones resistentes y fiables se hicieron muy populares entre las tropas para una infinidad de usos, aunque era un vehículo de lo más espartano e incómodo para viajar.

Este modelo representa la variante estándar de camión de carga equipado con cabrestante.
